The Dawn Network Nexus

The 3 core components of the Dawn Network Nexus:

Archives

  • A quorum messaging protocol and digest rebroadcast strategy for synchronising a distributed database, able to keep a correct record without having all nodes functioning, but avoids the overhead of the block production mechanism and the need for a leader.

Registry

  • A registry of user accounts, and is required by the Archives for tracking Validator nodes who need cryptographic identities to follow the synchronisation protocol, as well as any user of any system built on these two components.

Forum

  • A messaging system that enables chat, email, forums and collaborative document editing. It is loosely based on the design of Bitmessage but does not attempt to hide recipients' locations.

All three operate as small independent servers using Protocol Buffers for storage and transmission using gRPC, with a Dgraph database backend storing the data.
